Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy (PT) is a health care profession involved in the prevention, evaluation and treatment of physical dysfunction and injury.

orthopaedic physical therapy practice is based in the science of movement. PTs evaluate & treat the neuromusculoskeletal system with a special emphasis on the enhancement of function. Because optimal function of the body is related to many inter-related structures a physical therapist may include examine any or all of the following:

  • Posture
  • Strength
  • Flexibility
  • Joint mobility
  • Coordination
  • Balance
  • Cardio-pulmonary status
  • Gait
  • Pain

The physical therapist works in concert with the physician that addresses the limitation in the above areas.

What type of services does a Physical Therapist provide?
Physical therapy treatment is individualized to each patient and modified according to the progress of the client. Treatment takes many forms and may include:

  • Manual techniques such as joint mobilization and soft tissue manipulation
  • Application of electro-therapeutic and heat/cold modalities
  • Exercise
  • Wellness
  • Heavy emphasis on patient education
